Why expand the reserve?
Ability to host researchers
More land to monitor & study
With more biological station space we will be equipped to host not only more rainforest researchers and scientists, but it will also allow us to conduct longer, more complicated studies that require facilities and equipment.
Doubling our rainforest reserve would give us twice the forest space for wildlife monitoring and conducting wildlife studies. This expansion is crucial for gaining deeper insights into species behavior, ecological interactions, and effective conservation strategies.
Primary rainforest protection
Enhanced Educational Opportunities
Protecting coastal rainforest is a rare ability of the Behind the Vines Foundation. Eco tourism has many positive effects on wildlife, however over tourism can come with many negatives. Our goal is to protect the region from over development.
Additional land allows for the development of educational programs and facilities, promoting conservation awareness and engagement among the local community and visitors.
URGENT
We have identified a critical tract of land on the Osa Peninsula that urgently needs our attention. This land is essential for expanding our conservation efforts, as it harbors diverse and endangered species and serves as a crucial ecological corridor. Connecting two federally protected areas, it is an important area to prevent fragmentation.
